Continuing Work for 2024 Season

March 2024: General updates for the 2024 season.

Time for an update. It has been a crazy winter so all I really got done was mostly maintenance and preventative type activities. This did include cleaning and repainting some components, along with repositioning the seat to provide a bit more leg and head room (fabbed new floor brackets for the Kirkey seat). Other things are below.

I have been using Viking Crusader Shocks on all 4 corners since 2016 and they have performed well. I did rebuild them in 2021 and it was time again. All 4 shocks were rebuilt and re-valved to shift the compression curve. The compression settings last season were well above the mid point so this valving will give me more upside (stiffer) range. They can be field re-valved, but figured since they are getting rebuilt do it all at once. It was good to hear from their technician that the shocks were in good condition and to continue what I have been doing.

The Driveshaft has 7 seasons where it has taken a good beating. I had the original manufacturer, Dennys Driveshaft replace the U-Joints and spin balance the unit. They completely exceeded my expectations and the driveshaft came back looking like new. They media blasted the unit and repainted it showing the pride that they take in their work! It is nice seeing a company go beyond.

The end of last season I damaged my clutch where one of the stand supports broke, and with the delay in parts availability, decided to purchase a new Black Magic Defiant clutch. I have been using Black Magic for both new clutches and rebuilds since 2019 and decided to stay with them. Cale at BlackMagic clutches built me one of his Defiant X Clutch. I have had good luck with Black Magic and decided to stay with them.
