Board Care - From opening the package to Keeping it looking like new:
When you receive your board, please be cautious when opening
the box so as not to cut inside. Also if the box is damaged, please make
sure the delivery person records that and notify Palmieri Concepts within
24 hours if the contents are damaged.
The Classic boards are shipped with a protective paper
attached to the front surface to protect it and each corner is taped on
the back side of the board. On hot days during shipping, the tape can leave
a sticky residue on the back of the board. This is not a defect..
If this happens, gently wipe the sticky area with
a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol to remove it.
For
cleaning, USE MINIMUM Water by lightly
wetting a soft microfiber towel only and promptly dry. Wipe from the center
out to the edge so the towel does not catch the edge of the board and DO
NOT not let the water soak into the edge of the board.
If your board does get
wet, wipe dry with a soft microfiber cloth.
Showboard Covers- When
sliding the classic board into the cover, be sure to have the cover on a flat
surface and gently slide the board in so you do not catch the corners as it
slides in. Do NOT force in.
The
boards are manufactured with a combination of temperature and pressure during
the laminating process to provide the highest quality and best looking board
possible. Exposing your board to excessive heat can damage it. WARNING-
DO NOT store in a hot area, such as inside a closed car, trunk or hot engine
bay. Your board COULD be damaged, resulting in the boards warping, or the
lamination lifting. Palmieri Concepts is NOT responsible
for damaged boards due to heat, moisture, or improper handling.
When
transporting, use the cardboard shipping box it came in, or wrapped in a
soft blanket. - For storage always lay on a flat surface
or warping could occur.
We recommend
that you secure the board to your easel using Velcro on the back to the
easel, or some other method, and weight the legs of the easel down to prevent
the wind from blowing it over.
If you damage the beveled
edge of the Museum Plaque board, you can use a wide tip black permanent marker
to touch it up.
The Classic Series
board does not need to be framed, however, some clients may want to dress
it up with a frame, or even use a frame that is color coordinated to the vehicle.
If you do frame it, be sure that there is at least 1/4"
gap around all edges to allow for any expansion. DO
NOT put any glass, Plexiglas, of other covering over the board. When
out in the sun, it will act like a magnifying glass and cause the board to
get hot and possibly damaged.
The Classic boards have
a protective waxed paper over the front for protection during shipping and
it is taped to the backside. Sometimes during transit (especially on hot summer
days), when the tape is removed there is a sticky spot from the adhesive left
on the back of the board. It can be wiped away with an "damp" alcohol
paper towel with gentle scrubbing.
Please
note that these guidelines are not unique to Palmieri Concepts boards, but a
common requirements of all boards manufactured by various companies.
Tips on Hanging your Showboards on a wall:
Museum Plaques: If you are going to hang your plaque on drywall/sheetrock,
then we recommend screwing a drywall anchor into the plaster first, then screwing
your #8 pan head screw into the anchor. Following that, place one end of the
routed slot on the screw and slide your plaque so the screw is in the center
of the slot. This way, your plaque lays flat against the wall, as it is meant
to be hung.
Classic Series: Use small mirror hangers with 2 on the bottom, and
one on either side. It is also recommended to use a drywall anchor when screwing
into drywall/sheetrock.
Show Board Construction
Museum
Plaque Show Boards:
The manufacturer we use ARTiPLAQ, uses a technique that permanently bonds
our artwork to a custom-cut, hard, smooth, stable substrate so it will never
wrinkle, buckle or warp. They over-laminate the picture with a matte-finish,
protective film containing UV filters and absorbers protect the board from harmful
UV rays, and from oxygen, moisture and dirt that would otherwise destroy your
board over time. There is also keyhole slot in the back for wall mounting and
a nice beveled edge to make it stand out. Hang it on a wall or displayed on
an easel for that added museum look. The boards are approximately 3/8"
thick and weigh 7 pounds. For more information go to http://www.artiplaq.com
Classic
Series Show Boards:
This is the same high quality
artwork used on our museum plaques, except printed on photo vinyl and mounted
on Sintra (a rigid, light weight Plexiglas type board) with a protective UV
low gloss satin finish laminated surface. The UV laminate filters and absorbers
protect the board from harmful UV rays, and from oxygen, moisture and dirt that
would otherwise destroy your board over time.
Notes
On Colors and Surface Textures:
1.
The colors will appear slightly different between the plaque mounted boards
and the classic boards due to the different laminations and textures applied
to the surface. If you order both boards, you will see these differences. The
same is true for the unfinished/unlaminated photographs and posters. If you
look at the classic boards from different angles, you may see what appears to
be hazy areas (darker spots on lighter colored backgrounds or lighter spots
on darker backgrounds) or a texture. This is due to the UV protection in the
laminate (this may not always be noticeable). This is not a defect and is due
to how different colors reflect light through the UV coating.
2. Computer
Monitors: Different computer monitors may display colors differently. We use
all of the industry calibration methods to ensure that your final pictures are
the same as what you emailed us. When you view any drafts or prints, your computer
display may be different than your final print. Typically this difference is
negligible.
3. Note
that the protective nature of the UV coating may slightly alter some colors
when viewed under different lighting. Some light background colors, such as
white and yellow, may appear to have darker areas. As true with all matte finishes
light is reflected/absorbed differently so some surface shine is reduced.
